Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~Chuck Clark
Skillett,
I can give you the long and short of it to try and give you some ideas on where to go. I fished last week Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I fished four different lakes. What I found out was simple. If you were fishing a lake that has deep holes (over about 16 foot) you could find the fish but you played heck trying to get them to bite. On the other hand, If you fished lakes shallower than 16 feet you could find the fish and they were hungry.
I'm no fish biologist so I couldn't begin to tell you why this was. All I know is that by Saturday I figured it out and did pretty well on a lake in Lansing on Sunday. With that being said, the Jackson area has been crap for me while the Lansing area seems to be a bit better. Again, I don't know why. What I do know is there is more ice in Jackson than Lansing and that may play a part. I don't know what the latest snow storm has done to the fishing but anything is better than what it has been.
I hear the smelt fishing is really good on Higgins lake and Green Lake had a great perch bite last week.
