I'm from Louisiana but may be heading to Mecosta next month. Is there any good crappie spots close by?![]()
There are quite a few lakes that hold some good fish around Mecosta. Google it and take your pick.
I personally can report on Hardy Pond which is an impoundment of the Muskegon river. It has almost anything you want to fish for in northern freshwater species. Did pretty well on some heavy slabs last year over the labor day weekend.
You have family up this way, or buisness?

Thanks Don, have you ever stayed at the Bluegill Lake Campgrounds and what is it like? Trip would be a mix of business and pleasure. We've never been to Mi. and would like to see it.
James
I have not stayed there James. Are you pullin' a rig up? Have you checked out the campground on the net at all?

looks like you will be in an area with many lake near by so you should do good, i haven't fished that area, the place your staying at looks like a good place and they even have boat rental.
I here Chippewa lake is a good lake to fish(not to far off) and they have a great tavern with good food. Not sure what your plans are and how long your staying but maybe some of us could meet at some lake for some fishing.
I'm in Brazil at the moment but I have looked at thier website. If we get to make the trip I'll be in a motorhome but won't have my boat. Thanks for the info....
