The family and I went up to my father-in-laws cabin off the "Big Titt" last weekend. My daughter was a fishing machine. In the few times we got to fish, she caught 11 fish. Good mix or crappie, blue-gill, baby largemouth and smallmouth.
Just a worm and a hook. I swear, every time she put the hook in the water she pulled out a fish. Wifey got a few good ones, too. And the biggest bluegills of the trip.
Me? Not much. I was shooting for the big bass but they weren't biting near the shore. All the big ones were getting caught near the middle of the river. They just weren't biting anything I threw at them. No prob for me, though. I was having a blast with the kids watching them fish and re-hooking worms.
Little girl and her mom caught them at the same time. My son didn't catch anything (he wasn't really into it) but wanted a picture.
Kissing panfish? A new species?
Yeah, I didn't catch anything but still wanted a pic.
No fish were harmed in the making of this post. All were released unharmed to be caught again someday.![]()

Great post and excellent photos! Fishing with family is as good as it gets. I fish the T but mainly in spring or during the week. Regardless of the impoundment, the weekend traffic is insane and it's no fun to rock & roll in the wakes of the water jockeys. I didn't see any crappies in your photos, but records will verify the claim that the impoundments of the T. are very likely the best lakes in MI for super slabs. I wish they were as easy to find in the summer as they are in the spring. Thanks for the great post! :D
Some of life's most precious memories take place in the presence of a fish.
Thanks!
I didn't get any pictures of the crappie, but mostly everything else. Every now and then a bee would pop up and my kids are very afraid of them. So take a picture... get the bee away... Well, picture lost out. :D
One thing I love is taking my kids out to fish. And camp. And just being outdoors in general. Gotta teach them that there's more to life than a Nintendo DS and a computer or TV.
Plus, it's also about teaching them to be responsible outdoors with nature, whether it's catch and release and being careful with the fish so they don't hurt them or making sure they don't damage anything when we're camping and keeping things clean and unspoiled.
great pics!!! lots of smiles on them kids faces!!! :D

I grew up in Frankenmuth and fished the bay a lot. Didn't get on the the Titt too many times. My loss I guess. Nice pics and glad to see someone is raising their kids to appreciate the finer side of life.
