Having Fun in Southeast Lakes
Sorry that I've been off the radar for a while. I have been periodically checking the threads (by the way I'm the guy who designed the current Michigan C.Com decal). I mainly fish some southestern michigan lakes: Holloway, Fenton, Hasler, Crotched, and Louis lakes to be specific. Thought I'd post a few pics. You can still catch specs throughout the summer you just have to hunt them down. The first image is a limit I caught in June on Crotched Lake off I75 and Grange Hall Rd (a couple keeper gills thrown in for good measure). The second is a bag of a dozen I caught at Bennett Lake near Lobdell (the large one in the center is 12.5 inches). The assortment in my laundry tub were caught at Louis Lake in Livingston County (25 michigan limit), and the last photo are the 14 I just caught at Louis Lake on Thursday 7-30-09. I'll probably get back out Monday (go figure).

Man, looks like youre working on filling the freezer with catches like those. Stay after 'em cause your hooks are hot right now.
Congrats on your catches.

Thanks Bro. I'll probably go hunt down some more today.

Greetings,
Being in "Lakeless" Monroe County I'm jealous. Nice job. You have inspired me.

Welcom back Comm!
I kinda wondered where you disappeared to. The wife is from Fenton and we get over that way several times. I just need to bring the boat along one of these times.
I wondered about Lobdell. Wife knows this lake some, but not from fishing it. I see it has a pretty nice launch. I'll have to keep Bennett in mind too.
Nice catch too. BTW I like your avatar! :D

Unapplied biblical truth is like unapplied paint...how many gallons do you have sittin' around? U.D.

Hey Doodler,
Lobdell is a good bass lake but Bennett is a better crappie lake. Both lakes have a considerable amount of boat traffic but it's manageable. To get to bennett lake you have to launch at Lobdell, go around to the channel to the right and take that all the way back under the Bennett Lake Rd. bridge. I've caught some 8 and 9 inch bluegill in Bennett just past the bridge in the mouth of the channel but usually in Late May early June. The crappie hold along the shoreline along the weedline edges and at the mouth of the channel at the far back of the lake. Near the back their is a channel that goes back to another lake. I caught a few specs back there but it really wasn't worth the trip. Whenever you and the misses are up near the Fenton area let me know and I'll get you the latest report.
