    Default Baseline Bite.

Mama and I decided we better take the boat out one last time before the truck goes into the body shop for a couple of weeks. We got off a little late, so to save some time we dropped in Baseline lake off M-40 south of Allegan.

You couldn't have asked for a better night. Overcast, no wind, very few PB's on the lake, and the fish wanted to bite! I spent about 15 minutes scouring the lake to see where they were holed up, and didn't see much in deep water, so we picked the south shoreline with the steepest breakline and started trolling VERY slowly right at the weed line in 6-8 FOW. Temps were right around 75 deg. down at the bottom of my troller according to my front sonar and we started hitting them within 5 mins. Mama was floating a cork w/ night crawlers, and I was pushing one pole w/ a minnow, one w/ panfish assassin albino minishad, one w/ a bluegill slider, and one w/ panfish assassin tomato seed all but the minnow tipped w/ crappie nibbles.

Caught a 15 1/2" smallie on the minnow, but then the minnows stopped producing, so switched that pole to a panfish assassin orange/gold minishad. They didn't seem to care about color, and all baits did well.

We hooked 22 losing 6 and boating 16. None were real big, but the gills were nice hand sized eaters. I was having so much fun I didn' t get any pics of the crappie (all blacks) and had to force myself to take time to get a couple shots of mama and her gills. The crappie were tight into the weed line and I was nosing the poles right up to the edge for most crappie hits.

All in all it was a relaxing and fun outing.

Well Kevin I think that's a personal problem that you better take care of. What do you mean you haven't been out in a month. I'd shrivel up an die I think. :D:D
