    Default More Gun Fun.

Well mama and I just got back from a couple days camping at Gun lake. We sure picked the right two days this week. Monday was a scorcher on the water. Ask Ready2fish. Jim and his son, Steve dropped by the campsite just as we were setting camp. Later we met up with them to cool down and take a rest from the fishing. Jim said they did ok, but he'll have to give his own report. We didn't get on the water until early afternoon, and had some hits, but didn't put any in the box.

Later that evening we went back out and found them in the same spot and this time they were hungry. Some came on minnows, and a couple on the cotton candy sliders you picked up for me Jim, but mostly they seemed interested in a black nosed red tube body tipped w/ chart. nibbles. Caught them all in about 2 hours time I guess.

Cell phone reception is touch and go for me for some reason. Skillett, I saw that you called me sometime, but I didn't get the message until late on Monday. Jim and I were wondering where you were. Now we just have to make another date to meet up.

An old(er) fella I was talking to at the campground told me if I like to catch big crappie to try Bassett lake. I think thats the name he gave me. Will have to look that one up in my lake book. That may be another trip to make.

good job on the crappie, I was over there last thursday(i think) caught several decent crappie and a ness of gills, the bluegill spawn (and the crappie) sure got messed up by the weather this spring, i noticed the same thing you did, lots of females still with eggs, not puffed up at all, sure hope enough did spawn to not mess up the population.

looks like someone held out on there secret fishing spot until we were gone.

looks like they had some size to them.

I fished Basset lake, actually i fished it Sunday and there are some crappie there but never really done any good, just a few now and then. Another lake thats just down the road about 1 mile is a lake you herd me talk about is called Baker lake, last year was good but so far this year just some small ones.

Here is how are day went...

Left Don and his wife Carol camp site for some very hot and sunny fishing, started trolling off party island and had lots of bites and and only landed a few small ones there, my son caught a 14 1/2 inch bass this was his biggest fish to date.

We at the end of the day took home 17 for the table and all fish were females. We left i think around 5:00 had to much sun from the day and as we got to the launch the county boys were heading out to do there job.

Overall it was a fun day besides hitting a board floating in the lake at wide open and breaking a tip off my rod

    Skillett

were was you, i would of went out early in the morning fishing but decided to go out later since you were planning on going in the afternoon, would of been fun, maybe next time

Default Good to hear from you John.

Yup we did have a great day. We didn't exactly kill the fish, but we caught plenty for a good couple of meals.
