    Unhappy Need Kill Switch

    for 1975 Johnson 50HP Model 50ESL75.
Switch is built into the throttle controls.
The type I had was very simple.
It was a small plastic device that fit around the key.
It had a lanyard (string) and when it was pulled it forced the key to turn and therefore turned off the engine.
Does anyone know where one might be available?:D
If not, can you suggest an alternative that might be simple to install?

One of these will work. Kill Switch W/Tether Coil - iboats.com

Hooking it up is pretty simple. You have a black wire with a yellow tracer going to your switch. You need to tap into (not cut) that wire anywhere you can and hook it to one side of the kill switch. The other side of the kill switch get connected to ground. That it. Other than mounting the switch. Its important that you just tap into the black/yellow wire and not cut it. If you cut it you won't be able to turn your motor off.

    IBNFSHN,speckfinder,
    Thanlk for the replies.
I looked at the Link and your instructions, IBNFSHN, and that one looks like it could do the job and looks very simple to install.
speckfinder, will make a swing by Wal Mart to see what you suggested.
    Again, Thanks.
