    Default How to straighen Skeg?

I have a 40 HP Johnson. The Skeg on the bottom of the motor is about 1/4" out of vertical at the back of the skeg. This causes the boat at low speeds to not steer straight. The question is "how do I straigten the skeg? thanks

I have straightened small bends like that with a hammer. Hold a heavy weight on the back side while hammering. It shouldn't take a whole lot. Usually a staight bend doesn't affect steering much. Just a small adjustment with the trim tab.

Yep, definately hold a heavy weight such as the flat side of a sledge hammer on the back side. If you don't back it up, you run the risk of breaking the skeg off.

IBNFSHN, Pardon my ignorance, as I was an airdale many years ago. What's a PT?
