    Default Prop Damage

I wasnt paying attention to what I was doing Saturday and ran up on some logs in the local creek taking some chunks out of my prop for a Yamaha 25 tiller.

My question is this: Will it wear my lower unit bearings out if I run it with a prop that has some damage? Performance is not an issue as I did not notice any difference in the 7 mile run back to the ramp.

If it is out of balance, and it most likely is. You shouldn't run it until you get it fixed or replaced. It can ruin your seals and allow water to get in the L/U.

Balance is the issue. Even the most minor balance issue will ruin your seals quickly.

If it's not too bad, I'd have it refurbished at a prop shop and use it for a spare...for the next time you hit somethin' you're not supposed to hit. :D
