Thread: Outboard and Prop Information

This is just an idea, but would a mod think it pertinent to copy or move this 'sticky' to the new "Mechanic's Corner"...which, by the way, is a great new addition to CC....thanks mods (and Slab) for all your great work!!!

I am in need of a prop. for a 1971 50hp Johnson motor 13 1/4 x 17" i don't want to spend a bundle for one, can anyone help me out.

check your local marine shop, they usually have used ones for sale.

Thanks for takin' the time to put this together. I've just reviewed the sticky and am now going to get the replacement prop I need.

Afew weeks ago i broke a fin off my prop. and broke the shaft inside the motor but luckly with some jb weld and a broken pool stick i was able to get the piece of the shaft i broke (how lucky was that) anyway i had another motor the same as my old johnson 50 and was able to take the lower unit off and replace it, but now i only have foward only ?????????? no netural or reverse could someone please help me out here, as soon as i start the boat is ready to take off.

Sounds like you didnt have the replacement unit and motor timed right when you re assembled it. Engine shift must have been lined up in fwd but not lower unit. Check with local repairer to verify...
