couple boat and trailer ?s
I got a couple questions about my outboard motor and boat trailer. When I change the oil on my 4 stroke outboard, do I let the motor run so the oil can come out thinner like I do a car? Has anyone one changed the oil on a 9.9 size 4 stroke mercury? The guy at the tracker place said my motor doesnt have a canister oil filter like Racoon's big 115hp yammy but a built in screen filter somewhere in the lower unit/powerhead area. The guy said i shouldnt worry about the filter change. Is he fibbin? I cant seem to find the filter info in my manual. My wesco trailer has the sure lube fitting on the hubs. To better clean and grease my bearings, is it possible to knock off this feature off my hub? I might get this storage stuff done early if Racoon doesnt want to go down to the coast to get dem oyster.
Oh I could wrestle a monster fish

After 2006 the Mercury 9.9 does not require the filter to be changed as there is NO external filter.
Running the engine prior to changing is a good idea as it does make the oil thinner allowing better and more complete drainage.
