And check your primer bulb. It has checks in it as well. If they are not moving opening properly it can cause some of the same symptoms you're reporting, but it sounds more like float needle/seat jets problem.

Sounds like the same problem i have. i replaced the line and bulb and added a separator. Where is the fuel pump on the motor. 2000 40hp mercury.Thanks
