Just had my motor rebuilt a little while back, and it has started running funny since. Now, when I get above 4 RPM's the motor stalls and eventually dies. It always starts right back up, but will die again if ran above 4 RPM's. When the mechanic that worked on it took it out it did not do this to him so he doesn't know what to fix, he thinks nothing is wrong. This happened to me twice, the second time after pumping the bulb to ensure there was plenty of gas and oil in the engine. (Keep in mind I had just put the right amt of oil and gas in it). After pumping it, it did the same. He claims all the carburetors and everything were good to go. I'm clueless what to do now other than take it somewhere else and get charged 150.00 to have someone else just look at it. If something is wrong, I'd like the mechanic that worked on it to fix it because of the amt of money I paid him to start with. Any ideas you all may have will be appreciated.
Thanks
If it is a 2-stroke, I would check the reeds - I don't know much about boat motors, but I know in motorcycles bad reeds would cause this problem.

I'm no motor expert but it might help to know the make/model/size..etc motor. What kind of fuel you're running..etc.

Tracker: Mercury 60hp 2 stroke. The motor has performed great since I've had it up until the rebuild.
I'd take it back to the mechanic and have him take ME out with him to show it's ok. If it works fine with him then I'd check my local fuel mix and such.

sounds like a high speed jet is clogged in the carb
I agree that it sounds like a clogged high speed jet.

Yeah I contacted a Mechanic who does a great business in Farmerville, LA next to Lake D'Arbonne. He said he would take it out for a run and look at it for me free of charge, then if I want him to fix anything we would talk price. Can't beat that.
