16ft square stern canoe from Dicks would be a good option cause it has seats, cooler and rod holders plus with its narrow size can be used to stalk up on crappie during the spawn, etc. With its slim design , i imagine 2.5 hp motor can push it around nicely. But you probaly need a trailer. Do like wut I did. Instead of gettin a hand me down rust rack on pie pan wheels trailer from Pops to haul my wally world jon, I saved my bucks and got myself a brand new Wesco 14-16ft 1000 lb cap trailer with 12 in tires. Even though it was an over kill for my lil boat, the trailer paid for itself when I sold the tinfoil freighter for a Tracker Grizzly with 9.9 4 stroke merc and minn kota edge trollin motor. Sad thing is that i miss the smell of a 2 stroke in the morning
Oh I could wrestle a monster fish

Whiskerwhipper does make a good point with the canoe, but I don't think you would want to take it into the salty lake

I had a boat made of two 40 Ford hoods welded together when I was a kid. My buddy and I thought it was the greatest thing going. We didnt have to wade anymore. If it will float and has a place for a motor use it. Dont worry about speed. Dont mis out on some good fishing.
