Thread: Repainting LU

I found a replacement LU for my '94 Johnson 50hp...

Because it is a newer model the LU is painted in OMC grey whereas my '94 is OMC white

I'm getting the LU ready to paint but I'm having trouble getting a plastic part out of the LU so I can do a better job of painting...

The part I'm referring to is the plastic "grating" that covers the water intake holes...

It only has 1 screw holding it in the LU but I'm afraid I'm going to break it trying to pry it out of it's hole...

Is there a trick to getting this plastic "grating" cover out of the LU without breaking the plastic piece?

Ok nevermind...I figured it out.....screw on both sides of the LU must come out before the plastic grating covers will come off.....duh....
