Thread: 1998 115 Yamaha V4 timing specs

Can anyone give me the idle timing spec for a 1998 Yamaha C115TLRW V4? I want to check and see if mine is correct. I'll also check the WOT timing too so if you have both specs I'd appreciate them. Thanks.

I have looked all over the interwebs and can't find them.

I hope the Clymer shop manual that I ordered yesterday has the recommended settings in it. I'm almost positive my idle timing was off and may still be off. It would "cough" every 10-15 seconds at idle. I'm guessing it was a back fire. I adjusted the idle timing screw slowly by hand and got it purring now.

I just ain't sure how it moved by itself... Guess I'll put some goop on it. I don't think I need to put loctite on it. Maybe....
