    Default 40hp yamaha impeller?

I noticed my motor not peeing this afternoon and immediately shut it down. Trolled to ramp, loaded up and came home. Put motor flush muffs on and I am not getting any water out of the tell-tale hole. I've pulled all the lines to it and none are stopped up (which I was hoping one of them was). The motor is a 2012 40hp Yamaha. Anyone ever changed the impeller on this engine? If so, how hard was it to do? Thanks

Here is a video and there will be several others. Essentially all the same. 2 words of caution, get a magic marker and Mark position of trim tab before removal. #2 notice when he drops lower unit to the left front of lower unit, that hose he is disconnecting. There is a plastic connector it is attached to, it is very easy to break so try to keep one of the bolts in or some way to support lower unit until you get it disconnected. Same way putting it back together.

Thanks Cray. Looks like an easy fix. I just have to make sure that is what's wrong with it. I'll do some checking tomorrow.

If you haven't tried this, take cowl off disconect hoses and apply water pressure with muffs. Should have some water coming through block to pee hose block connection.

I ran a wire through the hoses and no blockage. I can blow through them all also. Pulled foot off and checked impeller. It is in very good shape. I'll check what you described tomorrow, raining here now. Thanks for the info.

Check the intake passages I had some pieces of plastic bag sucked into mine one time that stopped them up and had no water to the motor

You may have done this but going to mention anyway. Check that pee port through the cowl. Run a Neice of weed eater string or small wire through the hole. Have had them stop up with tiny price of trash.

I've checked that already. They were clean. I took the water intake off and ran a piece of weed eater string up through the foot. Didn't feel any blockage. Thanks for the info

I've had all the hoses and the pee port apart and they're all clean. This thing is about to drive me crazy...lol. Hopefully I'll get it figured out before Saturday. I need to go fishing! Thanks for the info.

Were the impeller blades straight or curved a lot? I am wondering if the impeller blades are weak or bent to much to pump. Did you check the impeller key or plastic wedge that some use?
