Default Variable Speed Controller for trolling motor?

I am looking for a variable speed controller for my 5 speed Minn Kota Power Drive. I had one years ago a friend gave me. Are they still available? Where can I get it?

Minnkota used to make one that had infinite speed control on it. A friend I fished with had it on his pond boat and it worked really well. I tried to find one a few years ago with no luck. I think they stopped making them when they came out with the Maximizer motors which had basically this same speed control built into the unit. There may be some aftermarket ones available now, I have not checked recently. Got an IPilot and it has almost infinite speed control on it.

I have always used a variable speed trolling motor as I feel its critical when trolling. I have a boat which came with a five speed trolling motor. It has a remote which I really like. I still have my variable speed motor but no remote.

Look around and see if some repair shops have the trolling motors that fit on the outboard. These have the variable speed controller box. A lot of these units have bad motor and cost is high to fix but motor is not what your after. These units are out there just have to look a little. We have converted two trolling motors over to this style. Have been going strong for 5 years now. At times there are used ones on ebay
