Question Has anyone worked on their Minn Kota?

I bought a used Minn-Kota Terrova 12 volt a couple years ago. It has worked fine up until recently and the best description of the problem is, it sounds like a bearing is going out.....a squeal type of noise. I removed the prop and took off all the tangled line that had accumulated but that didn't cure the problem. I can run the motor for a while....sometimes quite a while before the "squeal, screech" noise begins. Turn it off and then back on, it will be quiet for a little while then start the noise all over again. It's like it is fine if it's cool but once it starts heating up the noise begins.

Anyone know what the problem is, and how to dis assemble/re assemble?

Since I may have to eventually buy something new, I'm not out anything trying to fix this one.....if I can fix it great.

    Thank you

I took it apart, I’d say there’s a leak and it started the problem.

You can order the rebuild kit and do it pretty easy. Get some really fine Emory cloth and clean everything up real good. Just take your time and you will be back up and running.

Steve, that whining was your TM? I thought it was you because I was catching more fish.

Just kidding but I couldn't resist.

The whining was the TM, the grumbling was me.
