Probably can, but I would contact 'hatsu and ask them due to any warranty issues.
Ive got a 40 hp tohatsu motor and the water comes out of the exhaust posts like its supposed to.My question is I have stick steering and I set up front so I cant see the water and this bothers me is there anyway to put a pee hole on this motor so that I can see a stream of water coming out.
Probably can, but I would contact 'hatsu and ask them due to any warranty issues.
GO BIG ORANGE !
I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
Take it to your mechanic and have them install a water pressure gauge.
Send a PM to BigRiverMarine. Bill is a dealer for Tohatsu. May take a day or two cause he is fishing CrappieMasters today and tomorrow. I thought all newer motors had a Pee tube on them. I saw a fellow with a Nissan which is the same motor, down in La a few weeks ago. He had a piece of clear plastic tubing hooked to his and run out to the corner of his boat so he could tell if it was pumping or not.

I've got a 2012 50 hp Tohatsu TLDI and it has a pee tube. Yours should have one too, and water should be coming out.
Mine's a older tohatsu so no worries about warranty I aint got a clue what year it is
I found an article on you tube that showed me where to drill a small hole for my 10 hp older Johnson. I think it is 1/8in +- and you will also have to drill a hole on the bottom of the cowl for it to pee out there. It needs to be a small hole and be done in the exact right location. After you drill the hole you will have to insert a plastic connector for the telltale exhaust line and a connector and on the other end as well. My works like a champ.
