New jig! What you think?

Here is a new jig I just tied today. Never tried fishing with my own home made jigs, just picked it up in the off season. Only been playing around with them for a few months. So you all think I can bring in some crappie with this??

Also tied this one up while I was at my desk. I love using flies for bluegill thought I could get some good ones with this.

Look good Luke. You gotta show me how to get that two tone thing goin on that you did on that jig. And the spiky stuff on the front of that fly.

For the body on the jig I just took black and white chenille and wrapped them around each other, looked like a candy cane, then wrapped the body. Pretty simple, just comes out of boredom!!!

Ha ha thanks guys, trying to work up a few more right now. Longest part is waiting on the paint to dry on the head. Hopefully I get out this weekend(have good Friday off!!) weather permitting, this Indiana weather is a cruel thing. One day 60's, then today 30's and snow. We will see!

Instead of waiting on paint to dry, try powder paint. You can paint the head and with no waiting, tie the jig. The ones you have look really good.

Have you checked out the jig tying forum yet? Why don't you post these pics over there and share them with the fellas that tie jigs. You can get and give a lotta good info there.

You did a great job making an even body on the fly--that's hard! I see that you trimmed the hackle. Whether your goal is to fish the fly dry or wet, you'll find that you have better results if you can choose a hackle that doesn't need trimming.
