I'm not sure if I'm going to make it. I know I won't make it to fish on Saturday. I'll be in Glenwood giving out free brisket sandwiches at Plyler's Home Center until 4 or 5. I was hoping to make it so I could give out some maps/waypoints for the FFA & Corp Crappie Condos on Lake Degray. We'll see.

I am really just getting into crappie fishing due to my 11 year old son's interest in fishing for crappie. He has been tying his on buck-tail jigs for the last couple of years and even sold some at last years' Watermelon Festival at Hope. We've never heard of the Crappie Camp before, but, we really would like to come up that weekend and join in. Is there a fee? Do we need to bring anything for the cookout? Sounds like a lot of fun!!!!
Sorry I didn't see your post earlier and reply. There is no fee. Just come and camp and fish and meet other crappie anglers. Seminar(s) start at about 3:00 p.m. at Daisy State Park pavilion. Bring your big fish for the weigh in. The fish fry will be afterward. Bring a side dish and/or anything else on the list. Crappie Camp is for everyone.

Self Creek Marina is donating ample amount of cole slaw and potato salad for the fish fry. So, nobody needs to bring more.

We know it is Crappie Camp time because we have had plenty of rain lately. The lake has come up 4-foot and it's raining now. Most of the waypoints in the file Jerry posted will be real deep. But, all the tree laydowns and megamats around the lake are deep enough to hover over 10-12 foot. It's going to be a bit tough for a few days but I know we've got a good fish fry in the making.

I'm beginning to think that maybe Jerry and Darryl have done something to offend the "RAIN GODS" at Greeson. Just the mention of Crappie Camp and it starts raining.
I'm sure we will still be able to eat some crappie and share some stories. Thats what it's all about.

Well so much for the idea of moving crappie camp later to avoid flooded conditions. We had torrential rains for a most of last night and the lake came up several more feet. It's 9-feet higher this evening than it was Saturday at noon and its still rising.

We're going to have a great time at Crappie Camp anyway though. The Weather Guessers say we'll only have 30 to 40% chances of scattered thundershowers through the weekend, which is about as good as it gets this time of year.

A couple of Crappie Campers came by the marina with a very nice 1-pound, 13-ounce male white crappie that they caught fishing about 12-feet deep over one of the bamboo crappie condos that's in the file I posted. So they can be caught even when the lake is in flood stage.

    See y'all soon!

I'm definitely not going to make it. Too many irons in the fire right now. Looks like I'll be helping Scrapper work on my dad's transmission after I give out 1200 brisket sandwiches.
