Default Ranger Cherokee Series

Anyone have or have much knowledge about Ranger cherokee series aluminum boats? I understand they don't make them anymore, just wanting your thoughts on them. Are they riveted or welded? Thanks

I think they are welded, have seen a few up close, they seem to be well made.

They were built by Nova I believe. I know where there is one that a friend owns. It is beat to death but still floats. Has a hook in the transom and plows through the water.

Default OOPS see it now

Sorry,

I see the question now. Yes they are welded. I have a 60hp Merc. on mine and it runs great. It was actually a Crappiethon Boat that was given away in a tournament. My father in law bought it and when he passed away gave it to me. I truly love the boat. I have looked at a lot of new ones but then think that there is nothing more I would need than what I have. (unless it is a comanche.. haha.)

Default Not sure?

The Ranger Cherokee was out longer than a couple of years. Ranger started the line in 1994 and last year was 2001. I have a 1996 model and a friend has a 2000 model. Last year I talked to the designer and the engineer at Ranger who were over the Cherokee model line at the Nashville Fishing Show. They said that the reason Ranger Boats quit making it was they had intrest in Fisher Marine and it conflicted. I am not sure this is true but just reporting what they said. I did make a mistake in earlier postings mine is a 107. 117 replaced mine in 1999 but not much difference in them. Thanks.

I think prchjerker is meaning that Crestliner only built them for a couple of years. i know he is correct on this because I looked long and hard at getting one myself in 2004. It seems that Ranger puts out for a bid for someone to manufactor them for them. Much like Sears does on appliances.
