Fishing Standing Timber Video

The standing timber video that Paul O'Bier and I shot is finished. It is 1 hour 35 minutes. 99% on the water with a few clips of a seminar we did a while back. It was filmed on lake Ray Roberts in north Texas. All jig fishing. Paul gives great detailed instruction on how he approaches timber. Many of you that have fished CrappieUSA or CAST tournaments over the years knows Paul and myself. Paul has fished tournaments in 19 states and guides also. I think you'll find the video to be educational as well as entertaining.
The cost is $18 plus tax (for TX residents) plus shipping.

man, I'm proud of you ole boys. Who would ever ever thought a bunch of ole redneck fishing guides and crappie diehards would be making DVD's...Keep up the good work guys, including EP, Ship, Bob and anyone else who wants to put a DVD out...Heck I want to shoot some vids but can't get a good cameraman on the days the Hawgs give it up. Maybe I can mount my tri-pod on the boat?

We shot a spider rigging video and I did a winter time Catfish a few years back. Both times I had someone else shoot/edit and we got Sc$%#@ in the end!
I've invested in all the equipment and done this one from start to finish. Lots of fun but Very time consuming!
We are just exactly that, two Rednecks We like to help others learn and are passing on some of our knowledge. Not trying to get rich or be anything we are not, just trying to do something we love

Something I would like to see is a crappie fishing video by some of the highly requarded and competent fisher folks of them fishing on the tough days when the hawgs or any crappie aren't giving it up. Shoot some video on the adverse days with blue bird sky, wind out of the East or no wind, hot or cold days rain or shine.

Start the video out with them discussing their plan of attack for the day then show the plan in action. Show the plan succeeding or show the subsequent discussions of results and the formulation of a new plan or location.

When the hawgs are giving it up its easy but for me the difficult and hard days are more common. I would just like to increase my repertoire of things to try and do on the tough days which I am quite good at finding.

If they never get it going then end the video showing them loading out and and heading to the beer joint. I don't care how good anyone is I think they all will have a tough or down day on the water at times.

Another video they could do is one showing some common fishers struggling and not catching fish them show the hot fisher folks comming in and fishing the same water and conditions and show how they would fish and their results.

I'm just rambling on here since I think most of the times while on the water I don't have the stars and the moon in the optium alingment for catching fish. Something which I'm sure most video makers have lined up for their super hot action fish catching videos.

Hey ProTex...Are u shooting to DVD of Mini-dv? I have a mini-dv camera, tripod and adobe premier pro. I know how to use it but I don't like having to "copy" the mini tv footage on to my hard drive. What I'm wondering is if I shoot using one of the DVD style cameras, do you have to pull that off the dvd to use it in premier pro? Video takes up MASSIVE amounts of space I'm finding out.

LBM...I have most of my success when no one else is catching. If I can get no wind, Blue Bird Skies and no waves...I CAN CRUSH THEM when no one else can...If I can get this thing working like I want I'll shoot you some vids in the format you just asked for. Even talk with folks at the ramp to verify they couldn't catch um.

LBM, As most folks in Texas know....Jerry Hancock (ProvTexas) and Paul O'Bier will catch crappie when everyone else (including a lot of really good fishermen) are struggling. I have one of his other videos. They don't go for glamour and glitz, just the barebones on what they do that makes them successful. I know they went to great extemes to produce a product that will help anyone who wants to learn something about catching crappie. They're good guys and on the Texas Fishing Forum.com site they have always shared their secrets and current locations for catching fish. I think it's (the video) a really good deal. I'll have one soon.

I'm shooting on a Canon HV30 mini dv. I edit with pinnacle studio plus 12.
I pull it off film via fire wire. I also bought a 500GB external HD. I use that for my video. With about 6 hours of film I was only using half. Once I finished, I deleted most of the files and cleared up a lot more space.
I'm learning on the fly! No help from anyone, make a mistake then try to fix it! I don't read directions very well...The next one will go smoother I know!
I did invest in a good wireless mic set. Dual channel receiver and two mics. That was about $600 alone. That was a good investment because they worked flawless!

Those are good ideas for video. Everyone struggles at times.
We have been talking about a day on the lake. Go to a unfamiliar lake, pull out a map and go find some fish. I love doing that. That is one reason why we like fishing tournaments.

You need to get in touch with Capps and Coleman to make a video of how they made 1.3 million dollars and 6 National Championships catching crappie. This would be worth buying. They definatly catch em when nobody else can.
