Default New Fly Looking for INFO from tyers

OK I have no real Pattern I am using so I want to ask anyone that knows fly tying if I should have put a tail or anything I should have done different.

Then I think I finally got this Chernobyl ant going right?

Skip they both look really good! For your question depending on what you are trying to imatate depends on what it is gonna look like. Like for instance ants dont have tails but many insects do. Do some research on what you are trying to imatate and see if i has a tail or not. Hope this helps. Also your Chernobyl ant looks really good and I would cut the hackle down on the top one its a bit long. Hope all this helps!

Thank You and you are not the first that said something about the length of the hackle on a couple of my projects so I guess I should listen, LOL! Must be just hard headed.

Skip, they both look great, the foam ant especially. If it were me, id trim the hackle just a tad on the other.
