Default Got boat need starting place

I have gotten a boat that can be easily changed over to fish about all the styles I've seen and read about. With that in mind, what would be the best way for me to begin? Troll, Side Troll, Spider, Drop Shot? What do yall think?

Set it up so it can be quickly changed to support whichever style of fishing the conditions and the fish tell you should use. Give yourself multiple places to mount rod holders in multiple configurations, that way, you won't be limited to what you can try.

If I was starting tomorrow, I'd either spider rig extremely slow or tightline some brushpiles using or at least tipping with minnows. Just my $.02. Some folks will probably suggest crank baits as well. It really depends on the lake you intend on fishing.

Well there seems to have been a slight change in my boat of choice. I had almost spoken for a War Eagle tiller steer boat with a 60 hp Yamaha designed for Roger Gant a guide on Pickwick. I love the layout but have been reserved about the tiller. Yesterday I got to drive a tiller and don't think it's for me! To fish my waters I will be running 8-15 miles on a regular basis think the tiller will get old quickly! I may go ahead and dip deep and get a Predator by War Eagle?

By the way,,,,, I know regulations have been changed on some MS lakes but what about the Tenn-Tom lakes? How many rods can one use if spider rigging and such? I can't seem to find any info on the subject. Also, Not that I would have this problem, but is the limit 30 // 10" on all MS waters except those changed the other day?

Right now I would go out at night and fish the edge of a creek preferable in a bend with some brush. Put out a light and tight line using a 3 way swivel with a minnow on a small drop shot hook on the short leader off the swivel. Then I would put either a 1/8oz or 1/4 oz jig about 18" below the minnow hook.

I do this a lot at night during the summer and it does very well. About 75-80% of the time the bigger crappie will come on the jig. I use my mean green and black widow jig for a color reference for you.

I use a green light and until now I used a 36" long light, but since I now have this little powerful LED green Light I am going to start using it. This think will put spots in your eyes if you look at it.

    Hope this helps,
