Default Have a question on EasyGPS and Garmin 76S

The coordinates I send to my Garmin 76S from the EasyGPS program don't load with the same coordinates that I have entered into EasyGPS.

    When I transfer N39 97 845 W095 08 596 it loads into the 76S as ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- N39 04 707 W095 05 158 and I then have to edit it in the Garmin back to the correct coordinates wanted.

Under preferences in EasyGPS I have selected The Garmin 76 as the GPS receiver and DMW WGS 84 as the Coordinate format to use. I'm guessing that it is something very simple to correct this but guess I'm to simple to figure it out. :D

I know there a some sharp folks on here that should be able to steer me in the right direction as to how to get these coordinates to transfer, into the GPS, correctly as they were entered into EasyGPS.

I think Jerry Blake's posting about EasyGPS is where I first heard about this program.

    Anyhow thanks for any responses.

I'm sure its just a setting in one of the menus like in a Lowrance.

This is the kind of info we would like to get on the new electronics board so it will be easier to find in the future.

It may be that you're using a different "Coordinate Format" in EasyGPS than what you are using on your Garmin. In EasyGPS click on "File" and then "Preferences" and then "Coordinates". There you have a choice of "Decimal Degrees" or "Degrees, Minutes.Minutes". Coordinates in "Decimal Degrees" will look like - 34.2303 -93.67479 and in "D,M.M" will look like - N34*13.832' W093*40.488' (except the "asterisk" will be the round "Degree" symbol). I think the coordinates may automatically convert to the format that is on your Garmin when you download them from your computer so the numbers and appearance will be different but they should still be accurate. If you enter them manually they will definitely have to be in the correct format.
