Default Sunk boat in Mississippi River????

I found a boat about 75 feet away from the water on the banks of the Mississippi River this weekend. The boat does have an outboard on it and looks like it has been under water for some time. The bottom is about 3 inches in mud. It is not near any road, house, or any other landmark and retrieval will be a pain in the a** at best. Does anyone know the laws for finding stuff on the river. It this considered salvage? It is on the Arkansas side of the river if any that would change any ideas.

Report it to the GWs. They'll know what to do. If a claim was filed on it the insurance company will want it, if no claim was filed then the owner would probably like it back.

I know in Missouri, if you can get any numbers off the boat or motor, you can apply for lost title or salvage title. But why would you want it? It's probably not worth salvaging.

Nothing is wrong with the boat. Does not appear to have been wrecked and sunk. Maybe forgot to put plug in. Forgot to tie it off and drifted down river before sinking. Possibilites are endless.

According to the map of the river I have it is still in Tennessee. Anyone know a phone number for John David? He is the game warden for Tipton county.

Call a lawyer because I believe you have salvage rights but there are certain steps you have to take. Such as being on sight and getting the boat out of the water.
I've done all the fishing I want to do, I'm into the catching.

I would just report it to the local GW. You can call your sherriff and tell him you need to contact the warden and he will pass your number on to him.
