    Default Drop shot question

If I go to a heavier weight will it help me be able to feel the fish better when they hit? Or do I need a better rod? I’m fishing in 6 ft or less of water

How heavy a weight are you using now? If I'm drop shotting, I'll go with the lightest weight I can get away with and still be able to get to the bottom quickly. Then I make sure I'm not directly in contact with the sinker, so that I can allow the bait to freely do it's thing.

Split shot weight . Unless they hit real hard I don’t feel the bite most of the time

    Lightest I'd use would be a 1/4oz ... but then I don't Drop Shot.

And just so you know .... you're not really supposed to have to "feel" every bite. You should be jiggling your bait on a semi-slack line and watching for the line to jump or feel the fish swimming off with the bait. My opinion, anyway.

Are you using a leader or have hooks direct on main line ?

with the wind blowing ever time I go watching the line is pretty much out of the question. I'm actually dragging the bait across bottom stopping after a couple cranks
