Great article and thanks for sharing. I still like holding a rod whether I cast or straight line jig. Lately I have felt confident enough to additionally have a pole in a rod holder allowing me to watch it closely while feeling the one in my hand. If I could avoid the Laurel and Hardy routine upon seeing the rod in the rod holder jerk I think my success will be higher. Almost fell out of the boat as I was grabbing the rod ala Silent Killa while trying to put my held rod somewhere other than overboard. I flew helicopters for 20 years so you would think I could juggle two darn rods without looking like prime time on YouTube bloopers (smile).

Good info but ain't that spider rigging. I have been trying pushing jigs using 2 oz weight but I haven't got that technique figured out yet. What we are trying to do is push out the front and long line out the rear.

I consider it Spider Rigging if a minnow is involved, whether or not it's on a plain hook or a jighead or a jig/plastic ... and Pushing if no live offering is involved ... regardless of speed.

When I'm "Pushing" jigs, my lower end speed is 0.6mph (weights from 1/2oz to 1.5oz).

Nothing fancy, keeping it simple, using plastics, and no sauce. Hmmm, think they have won 2 national championships also.

That's the same question I have. Sounds like spider rigging to me.
