Got a old black one over 25 years old. Had to do a little maintaince on it but she keeps on going. Paid 18.00 at WM when I bought it. Got a blue and gray one in case in camper as back up. Don't want anything else.

My backup, should I need it (& I always bring two on trips) is a GE (brown/white) elec knife that's probably 40 some years old and still performs as well as these others.

I, too, prefer to use the slim blade (*Berkley brand) which is similar to the "shark" blade.

I have heard of people removing the curly power cord from a Mr Twister & replacing it with a straight cord ... probably for the same reason I don't like using it at cleaning stations. (the curly cord tends to pull out of the well worn sockets of most cleaning stations, as many stations have the sockets well away from the cleaning area. which causes you to have to stretch the cord almost straight)

Pappy, them cords are bad about breaking just inside the knife case itself because of same pressure. I I have repaired a couple for buddies by getting long lamp cord from Home Depot and replacing with that. Works great and you can get several different lengths. Just put a dab of silicone in hole where cord goes through and holds it good.

If I only had the one, I'd probably do that. But, since my partner bought a second one, because I FORGOT to bring one on a trip to Tenn a few years back (& he don't clean fish) ... I'll just take his if it comes to that !!

And I do like the idea of a extra extension cord that "Spartannation" brought up ... I'll go put one in the knife bag, right now !!

The yellow one is their pro version. I have the shark blades and am impressed with how easy they do the job.

Reason I asked is I found both on Amazon and the yellow was less than $5 more than the blue . Sounds like a no brainer to me .

Some of the local guides swear by the blue one being the best

The American Angler Pro version is what I have, and it's a very powerful knife. But personally I hate the Shark blades. I have found that the Mr Twister 9" blades to be the cat's meow in my knife. I have 2 sets of blades just in case.
    My $0.02 worth...

    Not the best ever made.

But better than anything out there.

    Still needs metal blade connections

I believe you can file them off to match & then they should fit. (no guarantees ... I just read somewhere that you could do that )
