WOW! You really have a story there Ed. Great photos too. Glad Irma did not do much damage at your home Ed. We still pray for all those who were not so blessed as you. I have seen the devastation first hand when I went to help after hurricane Charlie and Hurricane Katrina. Now the only roof I will get on top of is the dog house. Those "Wood Pikes" make for some cool fishing. You live for the tug just to find you hooked the sticks instead of sticking the hook in the mouth of a fish. At least you found time to do something enjoyable in the midst of your recovery from the wrath of Irma. Stay safe my friend.

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!

Great story but the best part is that y'all were lucky to come through it in great shape. There are a lot of less fortunate families out there. I been through more than enough hurricanes in my lifetime that I don't want to endure another. When threaten with a direct hit of near miss, we pack our bags and head for parts unknown. One of my earliest memories is leaving the house wading through knee deep water to the car and heading over to the courthouse to spend the night. I was probably 4 or 5 years old. The last hurricanes I stayed home for were Hilda and Betsy. For Hilda we stay with my in-laws in there 2 story building above a shoe store and from the upper balcony could watch over the tops of the roof as the wires and breakers and transformers shot sparks into the night air like fireworks. That was scary. The following year for Betsy which was suppose to be a stronger storm we went to my wife's aunt's house, a single story. We went right through the eye of Betsy, seeing the stars in the sky as the eye passed. It got real scary as the walls of the house were moving and water was being blown in under the walls. I promised myself that I would not stay for another hurricane again, and I haven't. Most times I head to my daughter's house in Bossier City. For Gustav we went to my other daughters condo in Destin and came back home to a damaged roof. When Andrew threaten we left home while monitoring the weather, when Andrew decided to go in to the coast a little west of us. We stopped In Hammond. The next morning the storm was near Baton Rough heading north. We drove east on I-12 to Slidell then I-10 West to I-310 and back home. Just a quick trip around the lake.

Like I said, I've had my share of hurricanes and don't want to be anywhere near them again if I have a choice. Life is way more precious than material things. Glad y'all are safe.
