I used to hit the waters of the great state of Texas with 2 very nice guys back when several times a week if not more often than that . The 3 of us and or sometimes 2 of us have ventured off in search of crappie on to many lakes to even begin to mention . This all started back in 2012 when one of these men told me hey my friend "lets target crappie year round so at any given time ,at any spot, I can just hit the water and come home with a crappie dinner " !
Well I told him when he made that statement "could you have maybe picked any easier fish " ? So that was the beginning of my adventures into day in day out , daylight , dark ,anywhere and anytime on the ketchn of crappie . We would go in conditions that would make you cringe at times and go to spots "blind" with little or no knowledge of the lakes .
Along the way my bud fell off and it became 2 of us most of the time and then for about the last 2 years my good friend fell into the abyss of family terminal illness and turmoil that didn't allow him to get free to do it any longer . Well we all finally got back together for a trip to a spot that we know well and this episode was rather different . Rodents of some sort got into his rig while it sat in wait and ate the wiring up on the trolling motor and graph and we had to go after the fish with just an anchor and the boat .
So here we go with my little daughter that isn't quite 5 and her mom my wife and the 5 of us went off to the lake . We had us a great time playing with the fish there and knowing the lake very well we hit known locations from the past . We found them at every stop in numbers and smiled and laughed all afternoon . Minikaboom as she is known in these parts of course ate all the snacks and drove us to and fro and became our official fish measurer as well , of course she managed to ketch some fish along with her mom and it was most assuredly fun for all .
Mom managed the smallest fish I have ever seen take a Big jig and the mini said "nope not a keeper" on almost every fish we put in the shoe ! She seemed to like tossing them back in the lake and we had to finally explain some of those are actually keepers sweety and you could put them in the livewell if you want ....
All the fish were in 10 to 16 foot of water and didn't seem to really mind whatever the offering might be as long as it was close to the bottom . We ended up with very few fish we kept (most were little) and managed well over a 100 plus fish in 5 hours . My wife said they were all one bite fish as we tossed the little things back one after another and most were just that , we took home 6 for dinner and smiled the entire afternoon while the little made up songs and sang up on the front deck something about the great outdoors ....
hope you enjoy the read and photos and have a great day
p.s. his horn was still in working condition and we also got to hear it honk a "few" times as well ...

Great post and family pictures. Doesn't get much better than that.

I know enough Spanish to order dinner and get my face slapped. It does look like everyone had a good time.
