    Probably the speed and vibration is the reason the crappie hears it coming and strikes the lure.
    I don't know, Spiderman ... I doubt the feather dressing would amount to a whole lot of "dampening" effect, if any at all. The vibration, rattles, hooks contacting the plastic body, color flash, water displacement, and speed are definitely factors in the fish hearing, seeing, or feeling the lure approach. That added rear hook dressing would just add a little more "flash" (and/or imitate a fleeing meal).

    There's been times when using a Kastmaster, that I've had better success without a feather dressed hook ... and times when it was the other way around. Best advice I can give is to try it, now & then, and see if it makes a difference.

    Look at ZIP-TAILZ They work great an catch fish. They worked great on the big Kentucky Crappie.
