Default Johnson 60 HP VRO Pump Question

I have a 60 hp Johnson with a bad fuel pump.
My question is can I take the pump off and mix oil in the gas and not fool with the pump. Will it work this away?? I'm not familiar with the Johnson motors and thought that maybe someone here would be able to help.
    Thanks in advance

Yes you can do that. In fact, you should. From all I have heard, VRO's have destroyed tons of engines. We just did my dads VRO. Not sure how to route the lines, we took his to a marine mechanic.

You say a bad fuel pump? I assume you mean the oil side of the pump. Yes, you can bypass the VRO and premix. You will need to disconnect all the alarm wires though and plug the oil lines. I've got a shop manual for 1995-1998 Johnson Evinrude 2 strokes, 2-70 HP if you are interested.
