The thing is, you really don't want it to stop working.... I carefully drilled out the holes so the compressor would continue to work (with the new Johnson Control unit wired up). That way it can maintain the temperature needed (51-55 degrees). I also wanted to do it that way so I could keep the lid intact and able to close.

Go ahead and convince the Mrs. to let go of the chest freezer.... : )

Nice setup. What you doing for fresh air? Sooner or later the fish will die if they don't get some fresh air.

I have an air pump with a line running into an air stone at the bottom. I'm considering replacing it with an air diffuser for even more air. I've learned too that the colder water holds more oxygen. So far so good, that's why I wanted to start out with only 4 dozen minnows.

The pump is from an Intex swimming pool that my kids destroyed. I'd just held onto the pump. It has a Type A Intex filter and I added a filter bag in the center filled with activated carbon. Most of the fittings like the bulkhead came from Aquatic Ecosystems. You can find them easily on the web. The hose lines are 1", except the output/input on the filter is 1 1/4" so I had to convert that to 1". Hope this helps!

Good looking bait tank there. Looks like you really thought this project through. Hope it will last for many years.
