Default Fish still full of eggs....

I caught a lot of fish over the weekend. Half the females were full of eggs and a few of the males were still wearing their courting colors. These fish were caught shallow. I believe these fish are just going "thru the motion" but are not aqctually spawning. However, the water temp was still within the normal spawning temp range.

Most of the eggs were turning to a dull yellow and not bloody.

Don't look to be a good spawn this year.

    Any thought about this?????????

Don't know where your located, but its pretty much the same here in SE NY. Water temps were 70° and females still had orange eggs in them.

I can't answer your question...but all the crappie I caught last week showed the same things as the fish you caught. Full of eggs, discolored, and the male's a little different color. I've asked several people the same question with no answer. All of the fish came out of blood river.

    Hope somebody can answer.......

Well it was a cool spring in most parts of country, and then when we did get a few warm spell it stormed add to that the high water= hi flow rates from the heavy snow melts up north and you have a pretty screwed up spring in many parts of country.

They did the same thing down here in the south. We thought there wasnt gonna be a good spawn but it finally did happen. Give it some time....in the meantime get out after those big girls.
