Here is what you are looking for.
This is a basic Kentucky rig
A drop shot is a variation on the Kentucky rig
This is the palamar knot I use to tie the hook on

Where exactly did this diagram come from ??
I'm just curious as to why the author thinks a 1/0 or 2/0 hook is the size needed
I mean, dang man .... biggest hook I use for BASS FISHING is a 1/0![]()
Just exactly what size minner would you have to have, to survive being impaled on a 1/0-2/0 hook :D
Are you sure they didn't mean #1 or #2 AberdeenA #2 hook is as big a hook as I use, on a jig or a plain hook .... and I've caught Crappie close to three pounds on that size hook.

Big hook = big fish.I use a 5/0 monster hook bassin'. I got proof on the wall to show it works too.

Your probably right GCD.....you know Shipahoy don't want to catch any dinks. :D

[QUOTE=crappiepappy;1256046]Where exactly did this diagram come from ??
It was in an In-fisherman mag almost 11 years ago. As I remember that article also mentioned that you should use a #4 or #2 hook if you use that rig for crappie and a #6 or #8 hook for bream or shellcracker. I think that drawing has been around the block a time or two. I mean it is probably older than me but the concept remains the same. Suspend some hooks above the sinker and use the sinker as the depth finder. Keeps your offerings a specific distance off bottom.

G3. You are right. I hate to catch "Dinks" as Babe Winkleman says. Usually my jigs I use to catch crappie are a 1/16 or a 1/32 and If I am using a minnow under a float setup I will use a #4 hook. The lawless pinmin you see in my siggy is about 1/64 for a very slow fall with a #4 hook. Makes it easy for the crappie and the shellcracker to inhale it.
I prefer the dropshot with a jig on a loop knot over the ky rig but that is just me.
