Default OOPS! I need a jackhammer..

I just powder coated 200 1/16th oz. jig heads with an assortment of different colors. Problem is, I did not punch th eye's before I cured them. What a pain in the butt. Lesson learned...

That PP is some tough stuff eh?:D

You can take a small drill bit a little larger than the hook eye and use a cordless drill, drill on both sides of the eye until you just touch the metal of the eye... then what's left will punch out pretty easy with a stiff wire or straightened out hook with the barb pinched down.

Not that I've ever done the same thing you did.

That is the first thing I did. It does not hardly even leave a scratch much less knock a hole through. I am guessing that those eye busters are for paint and not powder coat.

I think we've all done that a time or two. Try this next time. Buy you a cheap set of needlenose pliars and hold each jig by the eye with the hook end turned down toward the pliars. You'll never have to clean an eye again, the pliars cover the eyelet and paint doesn't stick there.

Eye busters are designed for vinyl paint, but work ok for cleaning out uncured powder paint.

I use a pair of hemostats to cover the eyelet before I heat the head and dip. Only paint will be on the outside of the eye which you can wipe of with your finger. Works great. Also, the hemostats will lock closed, so there is no dropping the head in the heat gun or paint.
