thats a wonderful fish
CP,
Im wondering if maybe those hybrids might grow faster because thats kind of coincidental with two KY fish just few years apart over 4 1/2 lbs that seem to be hybrids(one is for sure). Maybe they put more energy toward food/growth as opposed to main objective being to successfully spawn. Most Carnico fish avg. about 6-7 inches, maybe after a certain point a fish in an overpopulated lake starts cannibalizing and gets REALLY big..... can ya imagine reeling in a 5 incher and having this hog swallow it on the way to the boat..![]()
that was a beauty of a fish. very nice
Wow! thanks for posting pics of that hog, smaller bodies always seem to produce record fish. 2 of the largest pond crappie I caught were over 3lbs. and it was overrun with stunted 3" to 6" fish. So it could have eaten smaller ones at times. One thing the giants all have in common is the distinctive hump back. It for sure is not a pure white, and just my observation the crappie exceeding 3.5lbs. usually have different color patterns maybe due to being thicker around the girth?
"Never Fry Bacon Naked"
Nice fish no matter what State is was caught in. Most of us will never see a fish that size.
nice fish. dont think i will ever get one that big in the forest preserve lakes up here.
I was just excited to finally have those picture saved on my computer. The only proof that fish was ever caught are the two pictures still at the ramp, and the people who saw it in person. It didnt get mounted and if someone lost the pictures its just a big ol' fish tale. I want to take a peep at that pic from time to time to remind me of what might be out there![]()
My buddy once caught one so big he said his fist would fit in his mouth.
