What is so hard about controlling depth with a spinning reel and why is it easier with a bait caster? I use a spinning reel on my 12 foot jig pole and judge my depth by pointing my pole straight up in the air and seeing how low on the pole the lure is. I know the line recovery rate on my reel, if I have my line in the water and decide I need to fish deeper I just flip my anti-reverse to the off position and reel backwards a turn or two then flip it back to on.
    I got 350 heads on a 305 engine.
I get 6 miles to the gallon.
I aint got no good intentions.

There use to be an older man that fished one area I fish and he used a baitcaster and could cast a 1/16 ounce tube jig on his baitcaster as well as a lot of people i have seen with a spinning reel. I have not seen him in a few years though
