Rod I have a couple that are my favorites. One was made by a CDC member (The Lip RIPPERS) and is 7'-6" and the other is a 7' St. Croix Avid. The first one being new I just put a new Shimano Sustain 1000 and all I can say about that reel is WOW! I have several older Sustains and this one is even better than they are and they are really great reels.

Not to say I don't also like my 10' and longer rods, but they are just not as great as these two rods. They all have their place.

I use a Zebco 11 Spin-Cast Reel, 4-pound Trilene Smooth Casting, and a 5'6 light action Shakespeare Pro-Am Casting rod. I am kind of new to Crappie fishing, and caught my new personal best on this combo today. My PB is, for now, 13-inches. Caught it on a 1 1/2" Red & White tube.

Best all around crappie rod that I ever have owned is a Shimano Aero 6.5 light or med light (I can't tell because all the writing is wore off) action. Rod is not made anymore. If anyone has one in the closet that they would like to sell please PM me. I started using a Pflueger President reel a couple of years ago on the reccomendation of our own Jerry Blake. I really enjoy the reel. I use Wally Marshall Hi Vis 4 lb test line.

I am like everyone else, I have too many rods and reels.
