Spawning question
Do you think that Black crappie and White crappie spawn at different times? I have fished bodies of water that have both and caught just Black crappie before and no White crappie. I used to think it was just the location and the two simply spawn in different places. Any thoughts?

One large creek I fish on Toledo has a large population of whites and a pretty good population of blacks. I have noticed the blacks normally spawn early than the whites. Here's one for you. I fish a bayou in SW La. that Rita really damaged the crappie population. It has come back pretty good this spring. In past years it was 90% whites and 10% blacks, this spring it was the opposite. Mostly blacks, with a few whites mixed in??? I have caught whites and blacks in the same spot spawning, like a lot of people I'm sure. I always figure I will catch some kind of cross, by never have noticed one, other than the black nose. Maybe that is a cross??
