I am not a picture buff so did not take pictures. You will have to take my word on what I say we caught this past weekend.
My nephew and I started fishing Friday afternoon around 1:30pm. We finished the day at 5:30 with around 35 crappie. Majority caught on tube jig white and blue under cork about 30". Of course the jigs were pumped up with crappie nibbles using the finest invention know to man, "The Bait Pump".
The fish were in 4 feet of water. We kept the boat out in 10-11 feet and made cast to the shallow grass beds.
Saturday was a different story. I put all I have read about crappie to the test and looked for points. I figured the big females would not be on the grass beds yet but would instead be holding in deeper water. They were. They were in 11 feet of water holding to the end of the point. We put a road runner on, chartreuse and black and fished the deeper water with a slow retrieve. It was on! We caught fish just about everyother cast. Some were in the 2 to 2 1/2 lb range. Knowing it was the spawn we decided not to keep everyfish but in stead keep a few for the freezer. I do not have one of those clicker things to keep count but we estimated that we caught and released over a 150 fish on Saturday. After going there for 6 years with nothing it felt good to catch a few and it felt even better to know that I put things together and found the MOTHER LOAD.
I can't leave now; They fixen to turn on.
Chris,
Sounds like you had two of the best days of your fishing life.
These types of trips are not soon forgotten!
Good job man!

150 fish in an outing, and some great size makes for one heck of a memory. I don't have those kind of days very often but it's fun when ya get on them. Would've loved to see some of those 2.5 pounders. Sounds like it was a blast.
Fishin' fills the time until College football season
Chris, Being that all fishermen are lairs, except you and I, I'll take you at your word. LOL. Sounds like your hanging around here has paid off. We all need a trip like that now and then. Glad to hear you got yours and was able to put it all together.
Like Hannible says, "I just love it when a plan comes together".

Sounds like an awesome trip! Reminds me of when I was a little kid down at Pendleton Harbor. We were catching summertime fish in numbers like that. The standard old white marabo jig with a pink head.Congrats! I hope to get after em' sometime next week.
There were crappie fishermen everywhere on TB this weekend! Most that I seen were throwing roadrunners in deeper water just outside of small pockets inside larger coves.
I threw a beetlespin yesterday afternoon before our weigh-in & even managed to catch a couple real quick. The way our luck was with the bass, I should have crappie fished all weekend!
Man I can't think of anyone that deserves that kind of trip more than you Chris!:D Glad yall got on some nice fish and numbers too!
:D I may be going up there this coming weekend to fish a bass tourney with a friend, maybe I can talk him into doing some crappie fishing!:D Thanks for the report.

Chris, glad to see you had a trip like that. Good job. Wish I could get them on a roadrunner, but the only fish I have ever caught on one was a 6 inch bass.

All Of Us Regulars On Cdc Know That We Will Not Fudge On The Catch. It Would Not Be Any Fun To Do That. I Am Glad That You Such A Great Day!!!! Great!!!!
I have to say I'm jealous I was stuck on call. Glad you had a good trip.
A Bad Day of Fishing is Better Than a Good Day of Work!
