A buddy and I went down to the marshes south of Lake Arthur yesterday to give them a shot.. Fishing was real slow, but we managed to catch a few crappie, bass and bream.
We tried jigging along the grass and didn't do any good. One near the base of a cypress, but the other crappie came from large structure in the water, holding real tight to it and right on the bottom. some really nice thick sacalait, didn't weigh them, but they were all from about 3/4lb to about 1.25 lbs. Not bad for down south La. I think we ended with around 20 bream 4 bass and a catfish.
Only took a pic of the crappie and the larger bass...
Couple of sunrise pics while heading across the lake.
Nice shot of one of the marsh canals.
Here are the nicer fish out of the mess.

You can't fish with a hung line!
Good to see some from that part of the world after all the storms. I use to catch some pretty white perch in Lake Author. Haven't been since Rita. I am thinking about going to the Streeter ditch one day this week. Have you heard anything from that area. That is some pretty black crappie.
Yeah its good to see that place coming back.. Hadn't heard anything on streeters.. but boats all over the place.. most were fishing for bass.

Awesome pics... love how that water looks with the Sun coming up over the horizon. Maybe you should've been a nature photographer. Also some nice looking black crappie. Definately fryer worthy. Good to see someone catching something.
Fishin' fills the time until College football season
Johnny, look at what you've done. You've started a new trend, heading south away from Bundick. Glad to see some of the coast coming back. All we need now is 10 years without a storm. Do I hear "Amen" to that. Thanks for posting. I hope fishing improves throughout the summer.
