    Default Anacoca Lake

I heard Anacocoa lake was drained again last fall. Is this true and if so, how much did the recent rains bring it up. Has anyone been there this spring? I'm thinking about making a trip up there tomorrow.

From what I know people are fishin it. There is a fellow in Westlake that makes Crappie jigs and the BADEST hand wrapped Crappie pole I've ever used! He goes there on a regular basis and I know he has been this year. I heard it can be a good lake. Good luck!

You talking about J.D. Courtney. My buddy talked to him yesterday. Said the lake had been drained for 5-6 months. Said the fishing had been poor up there this year. Last spring we made a couple of really good trips up there. My buddy uses his rod, I don't care for the thru the blank line deal.{no guides}. However it does have some advantages. Being from Bossier, how do you know JD? Thanks for the infomation

We have a duck camp in Lake Charles. I was at Academy one day shoppin' and over heard two guy talkin' about him so I looked him up in the phone book. I went over there visited with him and got some of his jigs. I couldn't stand it! I drove back to the camp and dropped his jig off the end of the pier and caught a crappie. Went to the other end of the pier and missed one, jigged around for a few minutes, dropped it back in the water and caught a 16 1/2 inch slab! He and I have been buddies ever since.

I really like his pole when I'm in the trees. Very specific, but the right tool for the job in my opinion. I'll keep my ears peeled if i get a report.

JD is a great crappie fisherman for sure. I used his jigs a lot in the past, but have gotten away from them in recent years. Good fishing.
