    Default Depth Finder

I am getting ready to buy a new depthfinder. I have not owned one in 15 + years, so I'm out of touch as to the new technology out there. What should I get?

What are your experiences with depth finders and do you use them alot?

YES! They are very valueable tools in my opinion. As far as which one to get, man that is a hard question! I have one with the GPS also built in and I LOVE IT! My brother didn't think he would use a depth finder that much either until he came fishing in my boat and saw the importance of one. We fish a lake that is full of structure so you had to know everytime you were getting shallow to keep from getting hung up. Less than a week later, he had one installed on his boat!:D

Try the Eagle Cuda series. They are only $60.00 & it does all I need it to do. It gives me depth, structure, & temp. There are many more out there a lot more expensive, but it does what I need. Good Luck. Jimmy.

I've had good luck with Lowrance depthfinders ( been having boats for 30 years)--someone mentioned Eagle--I think these are made by Lowrance just a little more affordable--probably less bells and whistles. Had one Hummingbird and it was a P.O.S. Not saying that the birds are bad units just my personal experience

get the best one that you can afford. If I was to buy another one, It would be one of the humminbird 700 series.

Humminbird, they really have came along ways, we now have alot less trouble with them. With you starting somewhat new with one the Bird is really user friendly.

    Shadow,
I think I recall you saying that your brother had a boat like mine. If you could give me any extra information on how he has all his stuff set up, It'd really be appreciated.

I use lowarance and eagle, my experience is, you really don't need all the bells and whistles you just need somthing that will tell you the depth accuratley, water temp, and tell you if there is strucute on the bottom, how well something shows fish i don't think is that important, i don't think i completly trust them if they show fish, it could be a bunchof bubbles or turtles too. I have a lowarnce x87 and eagle fish makr 320(cheapy) it works good.
