I was going to South La. to visit my mother and was on I-49 between Shreveport and Alexandria. A little before I made it to Natchitoches, I noticed a group of fishermen fishing in a small lake on the side of the interstate. Does anyone know what those bodies of water are named? And more importantly were those guys fishing for white perch? If somebody knows, please let me know.

too far north of me, sorry can't help you out on this one.
You can't fish with a hung line!
Seeker, I asked a friend of mine here at work and he said what you are describing are the pits where they dug dirt when they were building I-49. As far as he knows they don't have a name. He said people are always fishing there. I am pretty sure they probably have white perch in them.

If you were farther south (between Alex and Lafayette) then it would be Dublason (sp) and I have heard that it holds white perch but have never fished it personally. Farther north like you are talking about, not sure. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Seeker, I can't help you with the waters you are talking about but I've seen them a couple of times a year on my way to visit Shreveport. But I do want to welcome you the the great state of Louisiana. Enjoy yourself while you are here and return often. By the way what part of South La. are you visiting. I'm from Houma on the southeastern coast.

Gene,
Thank you for the warm welcome. I was born and reared in Bogalusa, La. I have been in Texas for about 10 years now. So, I will always be a Louisiana country boy through and through
