They are leaving the deep water and heading to the shallows. I don't know what depth they are at but I know that they have left the dam area. Hope that helps.

Hey cms3 stop at the local Walmart in Minden on your way over(Homer does not have one) and pick up a lake map of Claiborne, it's in the fishing section and will give you a good idea of the layout of the lake. It helped me tons when I first started fishing there.

Hey Bama I have been looking for a map of Claiborne for years and have never found one. I had a buddy who lives in Minden stop by Walmart and he said they don't have one. Who makes the map you are talking about?

Hey kj83, I jumped the gun on this one. I went and pulled my Claiborne map and it is a promotional map of Claiborne Parish. It has the parish map on one side and the layout of Lake Claiborne on the other. I picked it up somewhere back in 95 when I moved here. Tonight I'll try and take a photo of it layed out and see how it looks then I'll get it to you. If it does not look good I am off next week, I'll ride over there and see if I can pick a couple up for you guys if they still have them.

Call this business and see if they can help you. Only Sporting Goods store in Homer I think. On the town square.

This is more of a "techi" kind of thing, but you who are savy on a computer can go to google earth & print out you a map that way too. I do that for all the lakes I fish. I print out 8x11 pieces of the lake & tape them together, then laminate the whole thing. Turns out a lot better than you would expect. Just another idea if you are computer savy...

That would just be a layout and not a topo. Claiborne is not that difficult of a lake, but a topo map would be great to have. I have an real old version a friend of mine had that the state put out when the lake was created, but it is not very detailed.

Also, if you have access to a newer copy machine or printer/fax, most of them now have an option for making a .pdf file. Then you have a digital copy for yourself which you can print anytime(when the fishing copy flys away) or a copy to email to friends.

Yes - you are right. My Bad. But you can do the same thing for a topo map with Microsoft Terra Server Imagery. Except it allows you to choose an aireal or topo map. But it is much more difficult to use b/c you have to have Grid Coordinates. If anyone is interested, let me know. Jimmy.

Hey Terra Crappie! Welcome aboard bro. I just saw you are new to the CDC. PDF works fine if you are not interested in superior quality. (I am not.) But if you want a really good quality image, go with a lossless compression JPEG file. (There are two types of JPEG files.) Or you can use BMP & scan at a really high bit rate, but man the file grows really fast. Just some useless info, but I thought it was worth the time. See you guys on the water. I "think" I am going to be able to get my boat wet this weekend. Been 7 weeks this weekend since I have had a chance to go. Jimmy.
