Default Bayou Black or Lake Verret Sac a lait(crappie),Where r the fish???

I live in thibodaux and wanted to take the family out sac a lait fishing. I heard bayou black has been good lately. I was wondering where is a good spot to take them to. Not set on any perticular place though, just looking for a location within an hour drive of thibodaux. Any help would be appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Choupic

Choupic, welcome to the site. Its good to see new members from down south. I don't think we can match the size of those fish caught in the northern part of the state but we do have plenty of fish here. I haven't fished much lately but I've heard of some fish being caught out of bayou black and a few other area off of the Intracoastal. The problem now is the low and muddy water. I took a joy ride out of Amelia last weekend and went all the way up to Lake Verret. Caught only one fish and found muddy condition every where I went. It won't be long before the north wind stops and the tide comes back in. Then the fishing should be hot and heavy. I don't usually fish out of bayou black but normally the orange grove area of the Intracoastal. I also heard of some nice catches around Lake Boeuf. If you work for them you should be able to catch a few. It will only get better.

    Default fishing choices

hey choupic fishing has been good everywhere lately with all the warm weather . Zgoing to taper off a lot for a few days or week coming up. Ive been fishing mostly amelia area catching about 25 on slower days and 50- 60 one the real good days. Fish are a little smaller than average in that area this year not throwbacks but not as many 1 1/4 to 1 3/4 pound fish that the area is known for. The bigger fish we have in southeast Louisiana come from that area going up to Verret. Been getting good reports from my friends from turtle bayou(lots of bass also), Orange grove, 70 mile canal has a ton of fish about a week ago but a lot of boats also. Getting some decent reports from bouef area canals of sacalait and white bass. If the weather is right they are everywhere if the weather is not they are no where. Fished today a little slower i think because backside of full moon . Me and my dad caught about 25 and a few bass in Amelia area.

    Default one more thought

If your taking kids fishing better to go to Bayou Black or Bouef area. Amelia is a tougher place to fish because of the amount of structure . Got to get the bait in the right place there and kids will hang up all day. Much easier fishing the marsh with kids.
